| Janet Pierce |
Janet Pierce is a member of Aosdana and regularly exhibits in Ireland, India and the U.S. She admits “a deep connection with landscape”, initially realized during a previous collaboration with Irish traditional singers Maighread and Triona Ni Dhomhnaill. This influence, coupled with an intuitive gra for Indian music, appears to inform her art practice to the present day.
Return visits to India over the following three years inspired the creation of intense, abstract works on paper, incorporating gold and silver leaf from Old Delhi. A course taken in tapestry making during that time in India awoke an earlier interest in Indian imagery, resulting in a series of tapestry works interwoven with gold and silver thread.
Irish and Indian sensibilities fuse in the realization of this intensely meditative aesthetic journey.
