Yoko Akino was born in Kyoto, Japan. In 1996 she came to Ireland and began work at Graphic Studio Workshop, where she is now a member.
Akino’s crisp etchings with practiced, unbroken lines pluck the classical female nude out of its familiar context, often juxtaposing it against highly coloured, modernist backdrops where pattern is key.
